Electronic Signatures On Contracts

24 Oct

Businesses rely on electronic signature for contracts every day. But are they legally valid? The short answer is yes. However certain contracts and related documents MUST still be on paper in order to be enforceable. Here are a few examples: Life and health insurance policies and termination notices; foreclosure documents including notices; utility termination notices;  and most family law related documents. The safest course of action if your signature is required electronically is to request that the other party provide you with a written version of the contract or document for your files.
